What is Shuga? Shuga is a reward point with monetary value! 200 Shuga is valued at SGD1 and it can be used to redeem cash, gift vouchers or products we all know and love.

How can I earn Shuga?

Visit partner stores

All partner stores are listed on Shuga app in order of proximity from where you are! Turn your Bluetooth on and explore the shop to receive Shuga.

Scan featured products in store

Turn your Bluetooth on to first receive a welcome splash message from the store. Once received, you may start exploring featured products by scanning their respective barcodes.

Simply click on ‘Scan Now’ and align the barcode or QR code within the white box to receive Shuga.

Shopping with partner stores

This is the fastest way to earn Shuga; take it from us.

Snap your receipt within 48 hours from purchase from ANY of our partner stores and Shuga rebate will be credited to your account!

Partner receipts will remain under “pending receipts” UNTIL the return or exchange policy of the merchant lapses. We rely on the T&Cs of our partner stores; rebate process can range anything from 2 days to 3 months. In the event of any cancellation, return or exchange or your purchase, the rebate will not be awarded Shuga.

Snapping non-partner receipts

We want to reward you for ALL your shopping. You can also snap receipts from non-partner stores to earn Shuga. A non-partner receipt typically gives you up to 3 Shuga.

Does Shuga expire?

No! Unlike other rewards out there in the market, Shuga never expires. You can collect Shuga across a marketplace and redeem whenever you are ready.

How do I go about redeeming Shuga for rewards?

Anytime you have enough to redeem a reward! $10 Cash and popular gift vouchers start from 2000 Shuga. From time to time, we also have rewards starting from just 1000 Shuga!

If you do not see an option to redeem a reward, it means that you do not have enough Shuga to make a redemption. Do note that Bonus Shuga will only convert to redeemable Shuga once you have 2000 Bonus Shuga.

How long does it take for me to receive my reward?

For all reward items including Cashback, it will take up to 21 working days from the date of redemption. You will be notified via your registered email once it has been delivered. If you do not receive your reward, please contact us at hello@shuga.io.

Problems receiving Shuga

If you can’t receive Shuga upon visiting a partner store, it could be because of various reasons:

  • You have previously collected Shuga a few days ago
  • The store is closed or have turned off Walk-in Shuga during that period
  • They have run out of the daily budget

What are Candies?

Candies are a fun way to earn tickets to participate in Shuga High. You can pick them up virtually from anywhere in the world! Snapping of non-partner receipts is also a good way to collect Candies!

Unlike Shuga, Candies do expire so please remember to utilize them in Shuga High. You will be able to see when your Candies are expiring in Shuga High.

How do I earn Candies?

Snapping non-partner receipts

We reward you with 2 Candies for every $1 (capped at 400 Candies) as well as 1 Shuga per receipt. You may snap up to 4 non-partner receipts per day, with a limit of 2 receipts per merchant. In other words, we will only accept the first 2 receipts snapped from “Store A” and disregard any 3rd receipt snapped from “Store A”.

P.S. Daily Goals will allow you to unlock multipliers that give you more Candies per $1!

Pick them up from the map

Yes! Candies are sprinkled all over you when you open Shuga app. Did you know that every 300 clicks on Candies will give you 1 ticket to Shuga Wheel?

Partner Receipts

You will receive Shuga rebate depending on the rebate amount given by the merchant!

Take note that your receipts will remain under “pending receipts” UNTIL the return or exchange policy of the merchant lapses. We rely on the T&Cs of our partner stores; rebate process can range anything from 2 days to 3 months. In the event of any cancellation, return or exchange or your purchase, the rebate will not be awarded Shuga.

We do not accept more than 2 receipts from one single merchant in a day.

Non-partner Receipts

We reward you with 2 Candies for every $1 (capped at 400 Candies) as well as 1 Shuga per receipt. You may snap up to 4 non-partner receipts per day, with a limit of 2 receipts per merchant. In other words, we will only accept the first 2 receipts snapped from “Store A” and disregard any 3rd receipt snapped from “Store A”.

Note: Daily Goals will allow you to unlock multipliers that give you more Candies per $1!

Your total number of non-partner receipts should not exceed 4 a day.

What receipts are not accepted?

We try our best to accept as many merchant receipts as possible. Here are some guidelines:

  1. Receipts must be a valid printed receipt from Singapore retail, service and F&B industry with the transaction made within 48 hrs of submission.
  2. We do not accept receipts for commercial, unpaid invoices, charge slips (e.g. EZ-link top ups, netts or AXS payments) and quotations.
  3. Receipts showing signs of modification or adjustment will strictly be rejected.
  4. Please do not upload receipts from a store that you work in. This applies to both partner and non-partner merchants.
  5. Avoid folding or leaving part of your receipt out intentionally.
  6. If your receipt is an online invoice, we will need to verify that the invoice contains a recognized merchant, date & time of purchase, products etc. Candies granted will be by a case-by-case basis so your receipt may be automatically reported for our system to verify.
  7. Receipt snaps have to be original; we do not accept pictures of receipts taken off a digital screen (e.g. mobile phones or laptops/desktops)

Our algorithm will identify all snaps. Accounts with flagged risk may have their earned Shuga, Candies and rewards forfeited.

Trouble submitting receipts

For an optimum result, please ensure your receipts are:

  1. Flattened and upright (avoid receipt text being tilted)
  2. Receipt texts are clear and under good lighting
  3. Submitted within 48 hrs of purchase
  4. Printed in the English language

If your receipt is too long to be captured, take multiple pictures by clicking on the + icon after snapping the first portion. Be sure to overlap some items so our AI can match up the complete receipt image.

Please also avoid submitting different receipts within the same upload.

If you still fail to submit your receipt after following the above, you will have a chance to report the particular receipt and our AI will take a second look. Once rectified, you will be notified when Candies have been granted!

What is Bonus Shuga?

Bonus Shuga is a reward that is granted after performing certain actions in Shuga app (e.g. sign up bonus). Bonus Shuga will automatically be converted into Shuga once you hit 2000 Bonus Shuga. Following which you may proceed to redeem your Shuga for cash or vouchers/products.

Tips on earning more Bonus Shuga

Refer your friends and family through the app to earn 180 Bonus Shuga once they have successfully signed up. When your referred Shuga buddy earns Shuga at our partner stores, you are entitled to 30% of their Shuga earned from scanning products and walk-ins. It doesn’t stop here! Earn 10% of their purchase receipt commission Shuga! This amazing arrangement will last for 2 months!

How do I refer a friend?

In the left navigation panel in-app, there is an option to refer a friend. You will see options to share your unique link via social media platforms, or through copying the link directly to your friend.

What do I get from referring a friend?

Why did I not receive Bonus Shuga after referring a friend?

You will not receive Bonus Shuga from referrals if your friend had previously downloaded Shuga on his/her device before. Yes, we are device specific!

Do also kindly take note that your friend has to verify his/her email address before you can receive Bonus Shuga! An email with a link will be sent to them upon their registration.

Daily Goals

Pick up Surprise Candies daily! That’s it! Once you have a daily streak going on, you will start to unlock multipliers that give you different amounts of Candies & Shuga per non-partner receipt snapped!

Pick Candies consecutively for 3 days to receive x3 Candies per $1! We will also increase your Candies cap per receipt to 1,000 Candies (instead of 400 Candies).

Pick Candies consecutively for 6 days to receive 2 Shuga per non-partner receipt (instead of 1 Shuga)!

Pick Candies consecutively for 9 days to receive x4 Candies per $1! We will also increase your Candies cap per receipt to 3,000 Candies (instead of 1,000 Candies from previous multiplier).

Pick Candies consecutively for 13 days to receive 3 Shuga per non-partner receipt (instead of 2 Shuga from previous multiplier)!

Do not let your streak lapse or it will send your streak backwards until you hit 0 again.

How do I use multipliers from Daily Goals?

Multipliers are automatic! Once the system recognizes that you have unlocked any multiplier(s), you will receive more Shuga and Candies per non-partner receipt snapped.

You may check what multipliers you have unlocked on your Daily Goals page before snapping a non-partner receipt for more Candies and Shuga! Day refreshes at 8am onwards!

Weekly Goals

Earn a Shuga Wheel spin weekly just by snapping ANY receipt for 5 or more days per week! Partner and non-partner receipts are applicable.

Week starts from Monday and ends on Sunday. As long as you snap at least 1 receipt a day, for a total of 5 days in a week, that free spin is yours!

Note: Only receipts snapped after 8am (SGT) will be qualified as a new day.

Monthly Goals

Spend with our partner stores to unlock more rewards when you hit the respective tiers required.

Partner receipts take 1-3 working days to be approved before you can see it reflected in Monthly Goals. If you end up shopping on the last day of the month, your rewards will still be credited to you once approved.

What are boosters?

Boosters are meant to help you accelerate your rewards journey with Shuga. They range from 10% - 100% and will boost your Shuga earnings relative to what you have activated.

Do remember to activate your Booster before it expires! Do plan your shopping trips wisely when you are on a Booster to maximise your Shuga earnings!

*Shuga earnings refer to Shuga earned from store walk-ins, scanning products and purchase with partner stores. Boosted Shuga will only apply for any of the above 3 actions taking place under an activated Booster.

Do boosters expire?

Yes! Depending on the value, Boosters are required to be activated by a certain date, and they will also expire once activated.

How do I activate a Booster?

If you have a qualifying Booster, you will see it in the top right icon after clicking into your Shuga wallet. From there, you will be able to view your Booster(s) if they have yet to be activated.

How do I get Boosters?

You may win Boosters in Shuga High or through Shuga Wheel!

What is Shuga High?

Shuga High was designed as part of our mission to give you better rewards in exciting ways possible! You can now exchange your Candies for tickets to enter Shuga High.

Prizes worth thousands of dollars will be up for grabs every week in Shuga High. Just to name a few, we are giving out iPhones, iPads and laptops, FOR FREE!

Draw happens every Wednesday at 9PM, SGT.

When will I receive my Shuga High prize?

All prizes will take up to 21 working days to be credited.

For winners of physical prizes, an email will be sent to your registered email to arrange for collection at Shuga’s office only. Prizes will need to be collected within 30 days from email notice.

What are the rules of Shuga High?

In order to make it a fair playing ground for all users, we strictly do not accept users who submit fake receipts in order to earn more Candies.

Some examples of receipts that are not accepted include:

  • Tampered/modified receipts
  • Tax invoices from company or unpaid invoices
  • Receipts from a store you work at
  • Foreign receipts not from Singapore
  • Receipts that don’t belong to you

If the Candies earned from submitting receipts similar to the above examples (including but not limited to), the Shuga team will retract your reward immediately.

Subsequent fraud behaviour will also cause your Shuga account to be locked. Please respect and play by our rules!

Login issues

If you experience a 24 hours lock out, this means that you tried to:

  • Sign in with a different email address within the same device
  • Multiple uploads of the same receipt

If any of the above happens, please wait out the 24 hours lock out and you should be able to log in again.

Can I use the app out of Singapore?

Yes! Candies are scattered all over the world so there is no stopping you! However, do note that we do not accept overseas receipts at the moment.

Is my data safe with Shuga?

Definitely! Being headquartered in SG, we are PDPA compliant. Your data is secure and encrypted within our AI so nothing will be traced back to you.
